PayoutRange support
What the app does, how to get help, and how to remove your data.
What PayoutRange is
A dividend income calculator and Monte Carlo planner for iPhone and iPad. You enter your holdings — ticker, share count, cost basis, and the dividend figures from your broker — or import them from a CSV export, or from a screenshot of your broker's holdings page, which is read on your device; the picture is never saved or sent anywhere, and only a company name read from it may be sent, to find or check its ticker. PayoutRange then shows estimated annual dividends, yield on cost next to current yield, a payment calendar built from the dividend dates fetched or entered for each holding, with dates not yet announced marked as estimates, per-holding charts, the dividends you have actually received, and a Monte Carlo range of future income shown as low, likely, and high bands rather than a single line.
There is no account and no sign-in. Enter a ticker and the price, dividend, and dividend dates are fetched from Tiingo; that data is delayed, usually end of day, and can be wrong or missing. Anything you type yourself wins and is never overwritten, and Manual entry in Settings > Market data turns fetching off, after which a figure stays where you left it until you edit it.
Getting help
Email thesmosllc@gmail.com. Please include your iOS version, your iPhone or iPad model, and what you were doing when the problem happened.
Never send account numbers, passwords, statements, or brokerage credentials. Support never needs them. If you need to show a calculation, describe it in words, or send a screenshot of the screen with anything you would not want in an email cropped out.
Common questions
- My figures are out of date. Fetched prices and dividends come from Tiingo and are delayed, usually end of day, so they can lag. Pull to refresh on Portfolio, or open the holding and edit the price or the annual dividend per share yourself — what you type is never overwritten. With Manual entry on in Settings → Market data, nothing is fetched and a figure stays where you left it.
- My CSV was rejected. The message names the row and the column. The usual causes are a ticker with spaces or symbols (use the exchange symbol, for example BRK.B), a number with a currency sign, or more than 500 rows. Required columns: ticker, shares, cost_basis_total. With Pro, Export holdings shows the exact format with your own data.
- My broker has no CSV export. Take a screenshot of its holdings page and choose Import a screenshot from the + button or Settings → Data; PayoutRange reads the ticker, share count, and cost basis off the picture on your device and shows you what it read so you can correct it. Crop account numbers out first. Or type the holdings instead; the Add screen takes about ten seconds each. Settings → Import holdings lists what each major broker offers.
- Can it remind me before an ex-dividend date? Yes. Settings → Notifications, turn on Remind me the day before an ex-dividend date and pick a time. The reminders are scheduled on your phone from the ex-dates you entered, they name the ticker only and never an amount, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- I bought Pro and it is not showing. Open the paywall and tap Restore purchases, or Settings → Restore purchases. Purchases restore to the Apple Account that bought them.
- Does it sync between my devices? No. Data stays on the device it was entered on. Your iCloud or computer backup includes it if you back up the device.
Deleting your data
Open Settings inside the app and choose Delete all data. That removes every holding, transaction, recorded dividend, saved scenario, and setting from the device. Deleting the app does the same thing. Apart from any report you emailed, and the anonymous purchase record RevenueCat keeps to confirm Pro, the developer holds no data about you; to have either deleted, email the support address. See the privacy policy.
Subscriptions
PayoutRange Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, billed yearly or monthly. A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings — not in the app, which cannot cancel it for you. Only Apple can issue refunds for App Store purchases: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Terms of Use: PayoutRange Terms of Use.
The disclaimer, in short
PayoutRange is a calculator, not an adviser. It turns numbers you enter into planning estimates. It is not investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. It is not a broker: it places no trades, holds no money or securities, and connects to no brokerage account — your broker's records control, not this app. Simulated runs are not predictions; real markets can do worse than the low end of any range shown. Tax figures are simplified illustrations for planning only. You are responsible for what you type, so check share counts, prices, and dividends against your broker before relying on any figure here.
