PayoutRange Terms of Use
Effective October 19, 2026. These are the disclaimer and terms you accept in the app. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies where these terms are silent.
Disclaimer: PayoutRange is a calculator, not an adviser.
- PayoutRange turns numbers you enter into planning estimates. It is not investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. For decisions about your money, talk to a licensed professional.
- It is not a broker. It does not place trades, hold money or securities, or connect to any brokerage account. Your broker's records control, not this app.
- Simulated runs are not predictions. The Plan tab shows a range of made-up futures drawn from the assumptions you set. Real markets can do worse than the low end of that range. Past performance and simulated paths do not predict future results.
- Tax figures are simplified illustrations for planning only. Confirm any tax question with a qualified professional and official forms.
- You are responsible for what you type or import. Check share counts, prices, and dividends against your broker before relying on any figure here.
- Prices, dividends, and dividend dates can be fetched from Tiingo, an outside data company, when you enter a ticker. That data is delayed, usually end of day, and it can be wrong, late, or missing. Some figures it does not state are PayoutRange's estimates, including dividend dates and amounts that have not been announced and the yearly dividend; estimates are marked as estimates, are not guaranteed, and can change. Anything you type yourself is kept and is never overwritten by a fetch. Choosing Manual entry in Settings > Market data turns fetching off, and then fetched figures stop updating; dates PayoutRange estimates still move forward as time passes.
- Enter only the figures the app asks for. Do not enter account numbers, passwords, Social Security numbers, or any other confidential information anywhere in the app, including notes, imported files, and screenshots; crop account numbers out before importing a screenshot.
- Your holdings stay on this device unless you export them. The app sends Tiingo ticker symbols (of your holdings, your watchlist, and the ticker you compare your performance with), and the words of a ticker search (what you type, or a company name read from a screenshot you import), to fetch market data, and never your share counts, values, cost, or account details. The only other traffic is the purchase check run by Apple and RevenueCat, and a report you choose to email with Report an issue. Manual entry in Settings stops the Tiingo requests. See the Privacy policy.
What PayoutRange is
PayoutRange is published by Thesmos, L.L.C. ("the developer"). It is a calculator and planning tool that works on numbers you enter. It is not investment, financial, tax, or legal advice, and no adviser, broker, or fiduciary relationship is created by using it.
Data accuracy
Figures are entered by you, imported from files or screenshots you supply, fetched from an outside data company, or estimated by PayoutRange from those figures. You agree to verify them against your broker before acting on them. PayoutRange does not verify them. A screenshot import may flag a reading that looks doubtful, such as a share count or figures that do not agree with each other, and may propose a different ticker from its bundled list of listed symbols; it asks you to confirm any ticker it is unsure of before adding it. A flag, or the lack of one, does not mean a figure is right, and you remain responsible for every figure.
Market data
Market data is provided by a third party, Tiingo, and is used under their terms. It is delayed, usually end of day, and it may be incomplete or wrong. Dividend dates and amounts that have not been announced, and the yearly dividend, are PayoutRange's estimates and are not guaranteed. Where payments vary widely, or the latest payment may be a change the data cannot yet confirm, PayoutRange says so and which figure it used. It is provided for planning only, is not a quote or a trading feed, and neither PayoutRange nor Tiingo guarantees it. You may switch fetching off with Manual entry in Settings > Market data.
License
Personal, non-transferable use on Apple devices you own or control, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also governs where these terms are silent.
Purchases
Handled by Apple. Refunds follow Apple's policies; ask Apple for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancel any time in your Apple Account settings (on iPhone or iPad: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions); cancelling stops the next renewal, and Pro stays on until the end of the period already paid for.
Changes to the service
Live market data is offered to every user, free or Pro, and is not part of Pro. It may be changed, limited, or discontinued at any time, with notice in the app where practicable. If it ends, PayoutRange keeps working with figures you enter, and Pro keeps working for the rest of any period you have paid for. If Pro is discontinued, renewals are stopped, Pro keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for, and notice is given in the app at least 30 days before. If you then ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, the developer will tell Apple it supports the request; Apple decides refunds.
No warranty
To the fullest extent allowed by law, PayoutRange is provided without warranty of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose and the warranty against redhibitory defects (Louisiana Civil Code articles 2520 through 2548), which you waive by accepting these terms.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the developer is not liable for investment losses or for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for intentional or gross fault (Louisiana Civil Code article 2004).
Governing law and venue
Louisiana law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute is brought in the state courts of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, or the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, except where the law of your home state gives you the right to sue there.
Changes
Terms may change with app updates. You will be asked to accept material changes before continuing.
